Sabine Nérée Herisse is a Washington, DC Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), registered with the District of Columbia Department of Health (DOH). She was born in Montreal, Canada and obtained college degrees in Canadian universities. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from the University Laval (Quebec City) and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University (Montreal). During the past 20 years, she has worked with children, teenagers, and their families in Canada, the United States of America, Guinea and now in Ghana. She performs the requisite services using multiple language skills which include speaking and reading: English (5/5), French (5/5), Haitian Créole (5/3), Spanish (3/3).

 

Over her career spanning close to 20 years, Mrs. Herisse has demonstrated capability to assess and treat psychiatric disorders in diverse settings including Mental Crisis Units, Schools, Outpatient Community Clinics, and in Private Practice. She is trained in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). She is experienced in the treatment of a range of issues including Family Conflict, Divorce/Separation, Self Esteem, Stress Management, Trauma, Parenting, and Academic Underachievement, Anger Management, Anxiety and Depression.

 

For the past three year, Mrs. Herisse has been the Mental Health Counselor for the United States Peace Corps (Guinea and Ghana) as well as for the American and French Expatriate communities. She has been providing consultation services and support to teachers at the French, American and local international schools.

 

Mrs. Herisse is a passionate practitioner of and advocate for work-life balance that includes her students and clients, yoga, running, close friends and family.
